Cosmopterigidae

Family of mostly nocturnal flights. In Portugal, 25 species are known out of the 92 existing in Europe. The degree of identification is easy to moderate in the adult stage. Some species in the larval stage present specific characteristics with "mining" behaviors - living in tunnels created inside the leaves with specific shapes ( Cosmopterix sp.) However, others still have unknown food plants (e.g.: Eteobalea isabellella , Eteobalea baeta , Coccidiphila danilesvkyi ).
